Things to Do in Perry County
The Appalachian Horse center
"The Appalachian Horse Center, a one-of-a-kind location, is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the cultural, historical, and social significance of Eastern Kentucky’s free-roaming horses. The center is located on Miniard Farm in Perry County and will serve as both a home and evaluation center for Eastern Kentucky roaming horses.
More than just a facility, the center is a community gathering place; a destination where locals and visitors alike can experience the region’s living history through guided tours, educational programs, and special events."

Since 2002, the Battle of Leatherwood Reenactment has kept the history of the largest civil war era battle in Perry County alive. Every October, the hillside once again echoes with the sound of musket fire and cannon smoke, as reenactors gather to tell the story of our mountain families—caught between blue and gray. Located next to the Cornettsville Fire Department.
